In the Archcathedral Basilica – Solemnity
The St James, Apostle, Church was consecrated by the Bishop of Kamień, Siegfried, in 1187. In 1534 the church was taken over by Protestants. It was destroyed during World War II. On 28 June 1972 Pope Paul VI created the Diocese of Szczecin-Kamień and made the St James Church its cathedral. After the reconstruction the church was ceremonially dedicated on 31 May 1982 and a year later elevated to the status of basilica by John Paul II.
