The DEDICATION of the CATHEDRAL in EŁK
In the Cathedral – Solemnity
In 1893 St Adalbert Church was built in Ełk to serve the Catholics of Ełk and its surrounding area, whose number amounted to 900. A hundred years later, on 25 March 1992, Pope John Paul II, establishing the Diocese of Ełk, elevated this very church to the status of cathedral. The Cathedral is also the shrine of Our Lady of Fátima, housing a crowned statue of Mary.
