SAINT VICTORIA, VIRGIN AND MARTYR
Primary patron saint of the diocese – Solemnity
Pope Urban VIII donated the relics of Saint Victoria to Primate Henryk Firlej who ceremoniously introduced them to the Łowicz collegiate church in 1625. Saint Victoria of Rome died a martyr most likely in the times of emperor Diocletian, at the end of the 3rd century. Her cult dates back to the 6th century. Since the donation of her relics, Saint Victoria has been venerated in Poland as the patron of the town and the Duchy of Łowicz.
Common of One Martyr, or of Virgins.
you filled the heart of Saint Victoria, virgin and martyr, with such great love that she laid down her life for Christ,
grant, through her intercession, that we may be victorious over the sin on earth and in eternity may participate in the glorious victory of Christ.
Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
