Above all, have love

From Nazareth came the Incarnated Word, the Love to spread over the entire world. Christmas is the beginning of the kingdom of God in the Most Holy Family through the coming of the Lord Jesus and bringing from heaven to earth this fire of love which He desires to ignite in every soul.

The Lord Jesus for the love of His eternal Father, for fulfilling His will, for the love of humankind, left the silent and hidden life of Nazareth and dedicated Himself, consecrated Himself to living among people, to teaching them, to bearing their weaknesses and hardships – He offered Himself and dedicated his life as the sacrifice of love.

Always look to this Jesus of Nazareth: what truth can be found in His words, in His deeds, in all of His activities; what goodness that does not seek Himself in anything but wishes to provide everyone with His treasures! What love it is that offers Himself, consumes Himself for the glory of the eternal Father, for the salvation of souls and their ever-lasting happiness!

What can inspire us more to love the Lord Jesus, to offer ourselves to Him, to improve our lives than the reflection on what Jesus did and suffered for us. Let us ask him to ignite us with His love. May He grant us the spirit of sacrifice and dedication, of renouncement so that we live for God, according to His will. This is what the true love consists in: to give up everything for the beloved Jesus, to offer ourselves irrevocably – no matter how hard or tough it gets – in order to fulfil His will and His most holy desires.

One should work for the glory of God and for the salvation of souls in every possible way . Thus, when God grants you the opportunity, calmly, sensibly and with Jesus become all things to all to win over everyone for Jesus. Everyone should be taken as they are and each soul should be helped so that their misery may not draw them away from the Lord Jesus; rather, they are to be corrected and drawn to God. We should become to them what Jesus became for us: an inexhaustible source of patience, charity and mercy, but at the same time unyielding to the impulses and whims of the old man; always guiding us toward the divine and supernatural life. As long as it is possible, souls should be treated in such a way to win them over for Christ with love and trust – they should be encouraged to be peaceful and patient, brave and trusting; they should always be cured, healed and never broken.

Draw respect, love, leniency and understanding of others from the Lord Jesus, from His Divine Heart; they flow from the fact that they are too children of God. Look how Jesus loves souls, how He puts up with them, how, despite unfaithfulness, He loves us and gives Himself to us in the Holy Sacrament. We should also love our neighbours with the same affection in Jesus and with Jesus, notwithstanding their faults; and if we lack love, let us ask the Lord for it. If there is no love, there is no kingdom of God, and our task is to see the kingdom of God grow and strengthen in us, in our souls. If there is love, there is peace, mildness, patience, there is no suspicion, judgement, aversion, for these things are against the spirit of the Lord Jesus. Souls will not be won over with harshness and violence, but with prayer and love. Love covers everything, takes everything into account, explains everything – it defeats everything with patience and goodness drawn from the Lord Jesus.

Let me ask you to strive for love and unity. May there be no bitterness, judgement, envy or dislike among you. The acting power is found only in unity and mutual love. If we become closely united by one thought and one goal in the Lord Jesus, no one will harm us, because the Lord will be our strength and protection.

Our way is the way of love and love smooths everything; through the merits of our Lord Jesus Christ, love washes away our sins. Love brings us closer to and unites us with God. Love brings life, love transforms. Love, love, love – this is the content and foundation of our life. All is to pass quickly. We are here today, but we shall not be here tomorrow. We shall be left with what we have done for God, out of love of Him.[1]

RESPONSORY 1 John 4:7

Beloved, let us love one another,
 Because love is of God.

Everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God.
 Because love is of God.

CONCLUDING PRAYER

O God,
you endowed Blessed Mary of Jesus the Good Shepherd with a special charism of the life according to the model of the Holy Family of Nazareth,
grant us the grace so that by her example we may inspire Christian families to lead lives worthy of their vocation for your greater glory and spread of your kingdom on earth.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
