The image of the Madonna with a Rose – Mother of Beautiful Love (1467) has been venerated in the high altar of St Martin and Nicholas Parish Church in Bydgoszcz, built in 1466-1502. The miraculous image has been crowned twice. The first coronation (only of the Madonna) was conducted by Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński, Primate of Poland, on 29 May 1966. He also named the Madonna Mother of Beautiful Love and the name has since caught on. The ceremony was attended by the then Archbishop of Kraków, Cardinal Karol Wojtyła, who 33 years later, on 7 June 1999, arrived in Bydgoszcz as Pope John Paul II. During the Holy Mass on the Bydgoszcz Airport (with 600 thousand believers) he adorned the temples of both the Mother and Son with two new crowns.

The BLESSED VIRGIN MARY, QUEEN of PEACE
Obligatory memorial

The cult of the Mother of God has been present in Stoczek ever since the 14th century, when a figure of Our Lady of Sorrows was found. The shrine of the Mother of God, Queen of Peace, as known today, was founded as a votive offering by the Bishop of Warmia Mikołaj Szyszkowski for the peace agreement with the Swedes in Sztumska Wieś in 1635. The image of the Madonna with Child, a copy of the Salus Populi Romani icon was brought there about 1640. The miraculous image was adorned with papal crowns in Częstochowa on 19 June 1983 by John Paul II. The shrine has been prone to the vicissitudes of history, from its full bloom to a time of closure. The Primate of Poland Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński was kept prisoner in Stoczek (12 October 1953 to 6 October 1954).

OUR LADY of GRACES
Obligatory memorial

The Blessed Virgin cooperated with the Saviour’s work in a particular manner through obedience, faith, hope and ardent love so as to renew the supernatural life of souls. Hence, she became our Mother in the order of grace. The maternity of Mary in the economy of grace has lasted incessantly (LG VIII). The sign of this constant maternity of Mary in Silesia is the shrine in Krzeszów which houses the 17th -century miraculous image of Our Lady of Graces. The sanctuary was founded in 1242 by Anne, St Hedwig of Silesia‘s daughter-in-law (Henry the Pious’s widow), a year after the Battle of Legnica (9 April 1241). Since its foundation, it has been called the Domus Gratiae Mariae. The image was crowned on 2 June 1997 in Legnica by Pope John Paul II. The ceremonious enthronement of the crowned image took place in Krzeszów on 17 August 1997.

THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY, CAUSE of OUR JOY
Obligatory memorial

The Church-Bride has always put her joy in Christ-Groom and loved Him with ever fuller joy. Since Jesus came to us through Mary, the Church has gradually come to realise that the Blessed Virgin by means of her co-operation in the mystery of the Word’s Incarnation became the cause, i.e. the beginning and source of such great joy. Moreover, in the conviction that by her docility Mary changed into joy the sadness Eve had brought into the world through disobedience, the Church began to venerate her as the “Cause of our joy”. The cult of Mary associated with this title spread mainly in France and Canada (“Notre Dame de Liesse”).
