BLESSED MARGARET LUCY SZEWCZYK, VIRGIN
She was born in 1828 in Szeptówka in Volyn (current Ukraine). At 20, she entered the Third Franciscan Order and made private vows of the evangelical councils. In 1870-1873 she served sick pilgrims in Jerusalem. Afterwards, she went to Zakroczym. Having participated in a retreat led by Bl Honoratus Koźmiński, she rented a flat and began gathering poor and sick elderly women whom she took care of devotedly. In 1881, with the aid of Bl Honoratus, she founded the Congregation, which with time came to be known as the Daughters of the Sorrowful Mother of God – Seraphic Sisters. After 10 years, she moved to Galicia. She built a convent in Oświęcim which became the General House of the congregation whose aim is to bring help to the deserted and sick, as well as to educate the children of orphanages and shelters in the religious spirit. She died in the odour of sanctity on 5 June 1905.

BLESSED MARY of JESUS the GOOD SHEPHERD (FRANCISZKA SIEDLISKA), RELIGIOUS
Mary (Maria), was born Franciszka (Frances) Siedliska in Roszkowa Wola in 1842. Since she was very young of age, she felt the desire to dedicate herself to God. She founded the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. She was known for great love of God and the neighbour. She died in Rome on 21 November 1902. John Paul II declared her blessed in 1989.

SAINT URSULA LEDÓCHOWSKA, VIRGIN

Saint Ursula was born Julia Maria Ledóchowska in 1865 in a fervent Catholic family. At 21 she entered the Congregation of Ursulines in Kraków. In 1907 she went to Russia to work with adolescents. In 1920 she returned to Poland and founded the Congregation of the Ursulines of the Agonising Heart of Jesus, whose main objective is educational work. During her whole life she was known for her apostolic zeal and serenity. She died in Rome on 29 May 1939. Her beatification in 1983 was followed by the canonisation in 2003.

SAINT STANISLAUS PAPCZYŃSKI, PRESBYTER
Stanislaus of Jesus and Mary (Stanisław od Jezusa i Maryi) Papczyński was born in 1631 in Podegrodzie, Poland. In 1654 he entered the Piarist Congregation, where he made his religious profession and received his ordination to priesthood. He left the order in 1670 and, three years later, he founded the Congregation of Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary in order to spread the devotion of the Immaculate Conception, pray for the souls in purgatory and support parish priests in the apostolic work. He was made superior general of the Congregation by the Church authorities and remained its head until his death. As an author of works on rhethorics and spirituality, he reminded the clergy and laymen of their call to holiness. He died in the opinion of sanctity on 17 September 1701.
